In light of the ongoing violent events in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina’s daughter, Saima Wazed, has expressed her deep sorrow. She revealed her sadness over not being able to be with her mother amidst the country’s turmoil. Saima Wazed mentioned that her commitment to her work prevented her from being there.

Saima Wazed, daughter of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is deeply distressed by the violence occurring in her home country. She shared her heartbreak over being unable to be with her mother during the severe unrest.

“I Wish I Could Embrace My Mother”

In a social media post, Saima Wazed expressed her regret over not being able to see or embrace her mother after her removal from office. She wrote, “My heart is broken over the loss of lives in Bangladesh, a country I love. I am deeply saddened that I cannot see and embrace my mother during this difficult time. I remain committed to my role as an RD.”

Saima’s Role at WHO

Saima Wazed is the Regional Director for South-East Asia at the World Health Organization (WHO). Her 76-year-old mother, Sheikh Hasina, resigned from the prime minister’s position on Monday evening following weeks of protests related to job quotas, which resulted in over 400 deaths. Reports indicate that Sheikh Hasina fled Dhaka after the Bangladeshi army issued a 45-minute ultimatum.
