Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh Secure Second Medal for India

India has won another medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh clinched the bronze medal in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event by defeating Korea. Earlier, Manu had won a bronze in the singles event of the same discipline on Sunday. India won the match against Korea with a score of 16-10.

This marks the first time since the London 2012 Olympics that India has won two Olympic medals in shooting. Manu Bhaker has also become the first Indian female shooter to win two Olympic medals and the first athlete from India to win two medals in a single Olympics.

Comeback After a Rough Start

Manu and Sarabjot qualified for the bronze medal match with a score of 580 in the qualification round. However, their start in the match was not ideal. In the first round, the Korean team scored 20.5, while India scored 18.8. But Manu and Sarabjot bounced back with strong performances. In the next round, India scored 21.2, while Korea scored 19.9.

In the third round, India scored 20.8, while Korea managed only 19.8. The Korean team requested a timeout before the sixth series, but it did not help. Manu and Sarabjot did not give the Korean team another chance and secured the bronze medal, making history.

Sarabjot’s First Medal

This is Sarabjot Singh’s first Olympic medal. Although he did not excel in the singles event, teaming up with Manu helped him achieve this milestone. This is also India’s first Olympic medal in a team event in shooting; previously, all Indian shooting medals had been won in singles events.
