Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured bronze medals for India, and now, Swapnil Kusale has claimed the bronze in the men’s 50-meter rifle three-position event on his Olympic debut. He made history with a score of 451.4 points, fighting hard until the end to win the medal for India.
Swapnil Kusale Makes History with Bronze Medal Win On the sixth day of the Paris 2024 Olympics, India received more good news from shooting. Swapnil Kusale secured third place in the men’s 50-meter rifle three-position final, earning a bronze medal.
After the kneeling and prone series, Swapnil was in fifth place with a score of 310.1 points. However, he made an impressive comeback in the standing series. In the kneeling series, he scored 9.6, 10.4, 10.3, 10.5, and 10.0 points. In the second kneeling series, he scored 10.1, 9.9, 10.3, 10.5, and 10.1 points, with a total of 51.6 points in the third series.
In the prone series, he scored 52.7 points in the first series, 52.2 points in the second series, and 51.9 points in the third series.
In the standing series, he scored 51.1 points in the first series and 50.4 points in the second series.
Born in Pune, Swapnil Kusale performed excellently in the qualification round, scoring 590 points in 60 shots. Swapnil, who has been competing in international shooting events since 2012, made his Olympic debut this year. He considers MS Dhoni as his role model and, like Dhoni, works as a ticket collector for Central Railway. His mother is the sarpanch of Kambalwadi village, while his father and brother are teachers.
